Take Action – Don’t expect positive changes without making them yourself!

There’s the 95% that choose to ignore advice, not read books or make any attempt to improve their mind … and then there’s the 5% that do, the ones that know to improve your situation you have to continue to learn and grow … which one do you want to be in?

Jim Rohn said something many years ago in one of his seminars that has stuck with me ever since. He said that 95% of the people who hear good advice or useful tips never choose to take action on it. You can say read this book and it’ll change your life, you will be rich … and yet only 5% of the people that hear that will go buy the book. It sounds quite astounding that so many wouldn’t take a simple first step towards helping themselves but my own experiences have proven this to be true time and time again.

The biggest thing you can do is start, be in that 5% that go buy the book or try out the advice. The day I heard this advice from Jim Rohn I decided to join the 5%. I bought the 2 books he advised people to buy “The Richest Man in Babylon by George Samuel Clason” and “Think & Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill”. Once I made that first step I felt inspired to take the next and then the next after that. It is a life changing journey … and it all began with ONE step.

In the words of Zig Ziglar and one of the truest statements of all time – “I’ve discovered, in 100% of the cases – no exceptions, that people that won’t take step number 1, never take step number 2”. If you don’t take that first step, how are you supposed to change your life? Take one step at a time, don’t be scared by the level of work ahead, just focus on the task in hand. One step at a time, if you put together a run of those who knows how far you’ll manage to travel!

Once you take that first step you need to keep up momentum and take the next one, and then the one after that and keep going until you have completely changed your life for the better. Sometimes you may veer off course and the actions may stop but get back to it as quickly as you can and remember why you started in the first place.

It’s time to join the 5%, leave the % that expect different results without changing input. The ones who want to change themselves or their situation but are completely unwilling to change their regular habits. The % that no matter how much they want to change always, always, ALWAYS has an excuse for not taking or persisting with action. The 95% that always blame someone else for their own situation or why they can’t do something.

I know cases of it myself, where people I know have been offered up some basic suggestions of tiny changes they could make to their daily routine to help change their outlook on life forever … but they CHOSE not to try. Instead they actually CHOSE to stay in the situation they were in. They chose to stay in a situation where they feel miserable, unfortunate and helpless. They had the key handed to them to escape their negative mind set … but they refused to put it in the door to even see if it would fit.

Make a conscious decision to join the 5% and stay there. It takes time and effort but it brings great rewards.
